Yannis (Ioannis) Theodorou hails from the historic land of Greece. Born and raised in Athens, he was captivated by the tales of ancient Greek warriors and their feats of strength and courage. Early on, he found himself drawn to the discipline of wrestling, mastering the techniques that emphasize control and domination on the mat. He made sure to attend the wrestling tournament in the North of Greece every year, as a visitor. This inspired him to start practicing wrestling and grappling at a local gym where he was later introduced to mixed martial arts. His motivation and dedication led him to compete at the international level soon after.
Driven by a fascination for the body's capacity to heal and recover, in parallel to his MMA career, Yannis pursued a degree in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Armed with this expertise, he not only excelled as a fighter but also became a source of recovery knowledge for his fellow athletes.
Yannis's vision extended beyond personal success. His struggles to find adequate MMA training resources growing up, led him to co-found one of the first-ever MMA-focused gyms in Greece, fostering a community where fighters could unite, train, and learn from each other. This collective spirit became the bedrock of his coaching approach, emphasizing not only technical prowess but also camaraderie and shared growth.
Yannis Theodorou's journey reflects a commitment to both the physical and the communal aspects of MMA. As he joins the MFC team (as our MFC Coach of July), he will be ready to train your teams for wrestling, grappling and help the amateur MFC fighters recover faster.

Let us introduce you to our first female MFC Coach: Simisola Oluwakemi from Nigeria. We specifically invited her as our coach of May, just before we celebrate Mother's Day later this month (2023), recognizing the importance of women athletes in MMA. Simisola is a strong advocate for women in MMA and often speaks passionately about the need for more opportunities and support for women in combat sports.
Simisola Oluwakemi grew up in a vibrant and bustling neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, where the sounds of music and street vendors blended with the calls of kids playing soccer in the streets. She faced many challenges as a female fighter growing up in Nigeria, including a lack of resources and support for women's combat sports. However, she refused to let these challenges hold her back and instead turned her focus to training and competing at the highest level possible.

After retiring from competition, Simisola decided to turn her attention to coaching, using her knowledge and experience to help amateur fighters improve their striking skills, cardio, and power. Simisola's coaching style is known for its emphasis on hard work, discipline, and technical mastery. She believes that a strong foundation in kickboxing is essential for any fighter looking to succeed in MMA, and she works tirelessly to instill these values in her students. Today, Simisola continues to coach aspiring fighters and her reputation as a top-level coach and mentor has earned her respect and admiration both in Nigeria and around the world. We're happy to see her help amateur MFC fighters grow next.
